Entablaturae, 2015. Pilsen, Czech Republic

Del Geist and Patricia Leighton collaborated on this project.  Athree-partsite-sculpture uses local Spilite, a fine-grained igneous rock resulting from oceanic basalt.  The stones were formed when molten magma collided with sea water from an underwater volcano during the Precambrian geological period, 550 million years ago. Formation evidence can be read within the stone tablets of Entablature. The ground directly below the site is from the same formation.  The sculptural uplifting of this stone evokes a sense of weightlessness and fluidity, appropriate to site’s past and the motion of the river below.  Dimensions: 40 inches high x 5 feet wide x 26 feet longCommissioned by Pilsen 2015, The Cultural Capitol of Europe, Czech Republic
